Thinking of moving to Bucharest... 7 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
Hi, would like some info about what it's like living in Bucharest as I may accept a job there. I'm a young, single woman in my late 20's and would especially like to hear the views of other young women who live there. I've been living in Bangkok for the last two years - not the best place in the world for a western woman... so just doing a bit of research so I hopefully don't make the same mistake again! Thanks

Hi, I am not a woman, so i may be biased. However, I don't think the fact that you are a woman should have any importance regarding your coming to Bucharest.
As a young woman i guess Bucharest can be fun. You can also gain respect and attention, professionaly speaking. Yes, you can find behaviours that might be uncomfortable to you. But it depends on what company you keep.
Generally i think that you shouldn't worry about this. But this is just my perspective, surely there are things women notice better and you should receive advice from them as well...
Regards

Thanks for your reply. I think I've just got Bangkok fever heheh. It's such a strange place for a young woman to live and very difficult to meet like minded people and other young women. I've kind of forgotten that other places in the world are 'normal'

A quick advice, just to be clear: don't expect Bucharest to be normal either . It will just be strange - sometimes in a delightful way, at other times in an outrageous way - in a different manner than Bangkok. So, if you are looking for something predictable and civilised at all times (or at least most of the times) you should try another place. These being said, of course Bucharest has many good points. Maybe you should give it a try, if you have a good opportunity to work here.
